Papatoetoe Cosmopolitan Club - NZBSA partnership

Things are progressing well with our new national centre at the Papatoetoe Cosmopolitan club:

  • Tables have arrived and are in storage
  •  Painting and decorating is complete
  • Lights have been installed

Carpet installation is next up and table installation is booked for mid-March.  The opening ceremony will be on Friday 14th April 2023 at 4:00pm just prior to the 2023 Barton McGill Open Snooker (15-16th April) ; be sure to put this in your calendar!

Two permanent sponsorships are still available at $5,000 per table (includes a permanent brass plaque with the sponsors details).  A great opportunity for those wishing to be part of the legacy of the game in New Zealand and support the beautiful game that we all love.

The first tournament at the new venue will be the 2023 Barton McGill Open Snooker (15-16th April).  Entries are open - get your entry in soon as the field is sure to fill quickly.

Note:  This facility will be the first in New Zealand offering international quality Shender tables with steel-back cushions, table heaters, Strachan 6811 (28 - 30oz cloth).

Asia Pacific Championships

Securing the new national centre at PCC has resulted in NZBSA securing the Asia Pacific Championships to be held late April 2023 (this is a WSF sanctioned event with a two year tour spot available).

There are two events being held:

Entries are limited to 64 and the field is filling fast with a contingency of International and National players already confirmed for the event.

We do want to address some of the complaints that have been received.  NZBSA have noted the issue with section play going beyond 11:00pm on Saturday, and we are taking steps to ensure event formats are approved in advance by the NZBSA.  We will work with assocation tournament controllers to ensure there are no deviations to the NZBSA approved tournament format in future.

Nationals - results of the survey

By popular demand Nationals will shift back to their spiritual home (June-July) for the 2024 season onwards - thank you to those who contributed their thoughts via the NZBSA survey.
